Derek Stepan struck once and had two points in the win.

“It means a lot,” Wedgewood said. “When you get traded, you want to put up a strong effort back to where you came from and show them, not that they made the wrong decision, obviously it’s a business, but on a personal level you want to get out there and play well.”

Dylan Strome added his first NHL career goal in the win.

“I haven’t checked my phone yet, so hopefully I’ll have a couple texts from my family and friends,” Strome said. “I’m obviously very happy. It feels like it’s been forever, but it’s only been [12] games.”

Jason DemersJordan Martinook and Alex Goligoski also had strikes for Arizona.

“I thought four out of the five goals were gifts,” Devils head coach John Hynes said. “Not the recipe you want to have, particularly coming in in a back-to-back game.”

The complete game was a welcome relief for the Coyotes.

“That was our best execution game. We’ve had some games where we played 57 minutes way better, but obviously a 5-0 win in this league, you don’t get many in this league and you have to play extremely well to get that,” Stepan said after his two-point night.

Keith Kinkaid made 22 saves in the loss.

“He’s (Wedgewood) a good goalie. I don’t think we got nearly enough traffic and got pucks to the net when we had traffic in front of the net. He was able to see everything and he made some good saves,” the Devils Ben Lovejoy said after the loss.
