Coach Chuck Weber is looking for a better start from Genting Casino Coventry Blaze when they take on Belfast Giants in an Elite League double-header this weekend.
Blaze have struggled for first-period goals so far this season and have trailed in seven of their nine matches going into the second session.
A trip to the SSE Arena on Saturday is followed by a return meeting at the Skydome on Sunday night (5.15pm face-off).
Weber said: “Belfast had a tough go in Sheffield playing with four ‘D’ but it is a big weekend for us and we want to bounce back and get over .500 in the league.
“Belfast are very skilled and have one of the best set of puck-moving defencemen in the league. They have a gritty third line, a good balance and good special teams.
“We have been slow starters on the road on a Saturday, we need to get ourselves in the game. You don’t want to keep chasing the game.
“We need to get off to a good start and keep it simple. You just want to go in, get the two points, pack up and go home.
“We have had a good week of practice working on creating some offence and hopefully the guys will see some reward this weekend.”
Canadian forward Carl Lauzon returned to the ice this week after missing five games through injury and could be in contention.
Weber added: “Carl has made good progress and someone with his offensive history will be a good addition for us. We will see how he is when we get there.”
