Weber, Habs down Islanders, 3-2

In Brooklyn Wednesday night, Shea Weber scored a power play goal with just under three minutes left in regulation to send the Montreal Canadiens to a 3-2 win over the New York Islanders.

“We got our one opportunity tonight and we were able to get the goal at the big moment in the game,” Weber said. “The power play should be a difference-maker, the penalty kill the same thing. You’ve got to be able to win your team games at times, and tonight we were able to do that.”Montreal Canadiens logo

The Habs improved to 6-0-1 on the season and remain the only club in the NHL to remain undefeated in regulation.

Phillip Danault  and Paul Byron also scored for the Canadiens.

Al Montoya picked up the win on 26 saves.

“It was a road game,” Montoya said. “We came in here and battled and got the two points we needed. It’s a long season and we don’t kid ourselves. We try to win the next one. This is going to feel good and we will enjoy it for a little bit but we have [the Tampa Bay Lightning] tomorrow.”

Thomas Greiss took the loss for the Isles on 26 saves.

Dennis Seidenberg  and John Tavares scored for New York.
