Weber: Devils will provide tough test

Coach Chuck Weber knows Genting Casino Coventry Blaze will receive a stern examination from Elite League rivals Cardiff Devils this weekend.

Blaze continue their pre-season preparations with a trip to south Wales on Saturday before the teams meet again at the Skydome on Sunday (5.15pm face-off).

Devils have already played two exhibitions games and their roster features just four new additions from last season. 175px-CoventryBlaze

Weber said: “Cardiff’s learning curve is going to be pretty quick just because of the amount of returners they have. I expect them to be more structured than we saw against Nottingham.

“They will come out hard in their building and push the pace. They will probably have had about six more skating sessions than we have had so it is going to be a good test.

“I want to see how our guys can handle adversity and how they respond in those situations. It will show a lot about them moving forward.”

Blaze will have Canadian defenceman Kevin Noble in the line-up after he missed out against Panthers on Wednesday having only just arrived in the country.

Canadian forward Chris Lawrence flew in on Thursday and will also make his first appearance while Blaze will continue to evaluate British duo Ashley Tait and James Griffin.
