GLASGOW, UK – Elite League expansion team Braehead Clan have secured the signature of Neuilly-Sur-Marne defenceman Mathieu Wathier for their first season in the Elite League.
The Quebec City native, 26, brings some size to the team standing at over 6 ft and a healthy points production with 13 points in 26 games from the blueline in the Ligue Magnus last season.
After a long career in the QMJHL, Wathier played for a number of seasons in the UHL and CHL in North America, with a best season of 5+9=14 in 64 games for the Witchita Thunder of the CHL.
Fellow French-Canadian coach Bruce Richardson makes Wathier his second import signing, having secured Derek Petrosso earlier in the summer.
