TOLEDO, OH – Zach Nastasiuk scored twice with an assist to lead the Walleye to a 5-1 win over Indy Wednesday morning at the Huntington Center. Toledo has an overall record of 13-7-1-3 and 4-2-0-1 at home.
Toledo struck first when Scott Czarnowczan scored his first goal of the season at 9:21 of the first period. Alden Hirschfeld and Austin Wuthrich picked up the assists on the goal that gave the Walleye a 1-0 lead. The Fuel tied the game with a goal at 15:50 of the period.
Toledo scored twice in a span of 35 seconds during the second period. Nastasiuk (2nd) scooped in a rebound at 14:31. Kyle Bushee ripped a wrist shot past Indy goaltender Mac Carruth at 15:06 for his first goal of the year and a 3-1 Walleye lead.
It didn’t take long into the third period as Hirschfeld (11th) one-timed a Nastasiuk pass at 2:04. Nastasiuk put the finishing touches on the game with the empty net goal at 19:41.
Walleye Notes: Goaltender Jeff Lerg stopped 29 of 30 shots and has a record of 8-3-2. Toledo has a record of 3-0-1 vs. Indy this year.
