Walleye swim past K-Wings

TOLEDO, OH – The Toledo Walleye defeated the Kalamazoo Wings by a final of 5-4 on Sunday evening. Pat Nagle stopped 22 of 26 shots and is now 14-2-2 on the season. Toledo is 17-7-2-1 on the season and 9-3-0 at home.

Kalamazoo struck first on a goal by J.T. Stenglein to take a 1-0 lead at 1:46 of the first period. Simon Denis tied the game 1-1 at 3:56 of the first.

Kalamazoo took a 2-1 lead on a power play goal by Lane Scheidl at 7:20 of the second period. Christian Hilbrich tied the game 2-2 with a power play goal at 8:43 of the second. Luke Esposito scored his first of the year to give the Walleye a 3-2 lead at 11:51 of the second.

The Walleye extended their lead 4-2 with a goal by Erik Bradford 16 seconds into the third period. Kalamazoo pulled within a goal when Brendan Bradley scored to make it a 4-3 Walleye lead 49 seconds into the third. Kalamazoo tied the game 4-4 at 4:52 of the third when Justin Taylor lit the goal light. Kevin Tansey gave the Walleye a 5-4 lead at 14:12 of the third.
