Walleye grab a win in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Jake Paterson picked up 38 saves to lead the Walleye to a 2-1 win Saturday night in Evansville. Toledo has a record of 2-1-0-1 and is 2-1-0-1 on the road.

Toledo collected a 1-0 lead when Marek Tvrdon (3rd) deflected a Jared Nightingale shot past Evansville goaltender Scott Greenham at 8:24 of the first period. IceMen out shot Toledo 11-5 in the first period.

Josh Shalla (1st) wired a wrist shot home for the Walleye at 2:15 of the second period to give Toledo a 2-0 lead. It was a strong period for Toledo as they held a 16-9 shot advantage.

The IceMen closed to within one with a goal at 8:29 of third period. Evansville sent 19 shots at the Toledo net but Jake Paterson turned aside 18 of them.

Walleye Notes: Goaltender Jake Paterson finished with 38 saves on the 39 shots he faced and his record is 1-1-0-0 on the season. Evansville outshot the Walleye 39-27 for the game.
