BRAMPTON, ON – The Toledo Walleye defeated the Brampton Beast 5-2 Friday night in Brampton. Simon Denis had three assists and goalie Pat Nagle stopped 30 of 32 shots to improve to 13-2-2 on the season. The Walleye are now 15-7-2-1 on the season and 8-4-2-1 on the road.
Christian Hilbrich opened the scoring at 4:01 of the second period to give the Walleye a 1-0 lead. Erik Bradford made it a 2-0 Walleye lead at 8:33 of the second. Brampton cut the lead to 2-1 at 10:59 of the second on a goal by Daniel Ciampini. Connor Crisp extended the Walleye lead to 3-1 at 19:41 of the second.
Brampton pulled within a goal on the power play to make it a 3-2 game at 9:04 of the third period when Reggie Traccitto scored. Kyle Bonis gave the Walleye a 4-2 lead at 19:11 with an empty net goal. Austen Brassard made it a 5-2 game at 19:48 of the third.
Fish Tales: The Walleye return home Saturday night for a 7:15 p.m. puck drop against Atlanta and Sunday for a 5:15 p.m. puck drop against Kalamazoo… Nagle stopped 30 of 32 shots and is now 13-2-2 on the season… The Walleye are 22-3-2 all-time against Brampton.
