Victoriaville winning streak still alive Goulet ends night with two goals

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Winning their last four games, three on the road in the Maritimes Victoriaville scored seven goals on 15 shots in the third period signing a 7-4 win against the Quebec Remparts. Alexandre Goulet, with two goals in third period, led the come from behind victory for the home team after trailing 4-0 after forty minutes of play.

Playing the first half of the opening period like to boxers who studied each other trying to find weaknesses, Victoriaville got first great scoring chance. Tigres center Mario Huber’s shot was saved by Quebec goaltender Callum Booth.

As Huber saw Quebec netminder making the save, Quebec drew first blood as center Bronson Beaton went between Tigres defensemen Vincent Lenoue and Nicolas Latulippe beating Victoriaville goaltender Olivier Tremblay on his right side with backhanded shot at 8:45.

Quebec came back less than three minutes later taking advantage of their first power play opportunity, to add to their lead.

Making the first save on Quebec defenseman Ross McDougall wrist shot from the blue line, veteran center, Alexandre Sills took the rebound to score his first goal in last ten games at 11:03. Former Quebec Remparts defenseman Lenoue was in the box for slashing.

Quebec scored their two goals on first five shots.

Quebec opened the middle frame adding a third goal to their total.

Quebec young 16-year old left winger Louis-Filip Cote made a perfect pass to veteran teammate center Alexandre Sills who scored his second of the game 37 seconds into the second period.

Quebec center Derek Gentile increased the Quebec lead to four as his shot from the slot deflected on Victoriaville player before slowly crossing the goal line at 10:44. Allowing four goals on 18 shots, Tigres head coach Bruce Richardson decided to make a change pulling his starting netminder sending James Poval in. Poval show a record of six wins eleven loses with 3, 66 goal against average and .882 save percentage.

Acquired in a trade from Shawinigan Cataractes veteran center James Phelan got a penalty shot after Quebec defenseman Ross McDougall prevent Tigres center to shot the puck on breakaway. Phelan saw Quebec netminder making the save with his right pad at 8:53.

Victoriaville got on board for the first time in game with 13:43 remaining in third period. Alexandre Goulet backhanded a shot past Quebec goalie Booth under his left pad.

Getting out of the box Victoriaville defenseman Joey Samsoni went on breakaway accepting a pass from Pascal Laberge beating Quebec goalie between his pads for Tigres second goal with 9:47 left to the third period.

Victoriaville got golden opportunity as they got a five-on-three power play following consecutive penalties to Quebec forward Yanick Turcotte (roughing) and center Bronson Beaton (delay game).

After successfully killing Turcotte penalty Quebec saw the home team scoring their third goals in third period. Felix Lauzon wrist shot beat Quebec netminder at 12:48.

Alexandre Goulet with his second of the game, second of the third period brought both teams back to square one with Tigres fourth goals with 3:43 remaining t the third periods.

Mathiey Ayotte gave his team the lead for first time in the game scoring what will become the game winning goal as his wrist shot surprised Quebec netminder on his left side at 17:03.

Twenty-nine seconds later Kyle Tibbo gave Victoriaville a two-goal lead scoring his eighth of the regular season with 2:28 left on the clock.

Having nothing to lose Quebec head coach Philippe Boucher pulled his starting netminder sending sixth forward but Mario Huber scores Victoriaville last goal in the game seventh one in an empty net at 17:57. Victoriaville led 41-26 in shots on goal after three periods of play.

Quebec lost their 11th game in the last 12.

Quebec next stop will be next Friday in Gatineau facing the Olympiques.
