Victoriaville shuts out Quebec Tremblay made 38 saves for his first shutout

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Playing almost two scoreless periods Victoriaville scored first with 2:31 remaining adding three more goals in the third to register a 4-0 wins over the Quebec Remparts. Tigres goaltender Olivier Tremblay got his first shutout of the season making 20 saves.

Victoriaville broke the ice at even strength; Former Quebec defenseman Vincent Lanoue’s wrist shot from the blue line surprised Quebec goaltender Callum Booth.

Several players on both sides got scoring chances in the first period but each time each goaltender closed the door. Loui-Filip Cote, Yanick Turcotte and Bronson Beaton forced Victoriaville goalie Olivier Tremblay to make the save.Tigres logo

Jacob Lapierre, defenseman Daniel Krenzelok and Alexandre Goulet got scoring chances on Tigres side but like his opponent Quebec netminder made the save.

Looking for perfect play in many occasions Quebec got their first shot on Tigres netminder as they played four-on-three following minor penalty Alexandre Sills and Alexandre Goulet. The shot came from recently named new captain Bronson Beaton and Auguste Impose.

Losing their best scorer the night before when Matthew Boucher left in second period with a shoulder injury, Quebec lost forward Mikael Robidoux on with an apparent leg injury in first period. Victoriaville also lost a player, captain defenseman Tristan Pomerleau also left with couple minutes left in first period also with leg injury. In both cases, the players were lost for the game.

Victoriaville added three more goals in the third period. Alexandre Goulet on great pass from defenseman Daniel Krenzelok beat Quebec goalie on his right side with only 50 seconds into the period.

Trailing by two with less than three minutes remaining in third period Quebec head coach Philippe Boucher pulled his starting netminder sending sixth forwards. Losing the puck in his own defensive zone Quebec defenseman Austin McEneney Felix Lauzon shooting the puck in an empty net with 2:31 left on the clock.

Goulet scored his second of the game in the third period sealing Quebec’s fate.

Quebec will be back home playing the Drummondville Voltigeurs on Wednesday night

Six other game were on QMJHL schedule on Saturday night.
