In Las Vegas Tuesday night, the Golden Knights solidified their redefinition of expansion team and defeated the Anaheim Ducks 4-3 in a shootout.
Malcolm Subban made 26 saves to get the win as the Knights improved to 17-9-1 and
seem to be setting a new paradigm in the NHL.
“Our team played such a good game, and when it came down to a shootout, I had to bear down and give my team a chance to win the game,” Subban said. “I felt like I didn’t want to let anyone down.”
Erik Haula scored at 15:38 of the third period to get the Knights even with Anaheim at 3-3 and force the extra session and skills competition.
Only one goal was scored in the shootout and that one went to Alex Tuch sc for Vegas.
James Neal and Oscar Lindberg also scored in regulation for Vegas.
Anaheim got goals from Francois Beauchemin, Antoine Vermette and Corey Perry; the Ducks are now 11-11-6 on the season with the loss.
“I’m not going to get too wired up about how we played in it and how we didn’t close it out. We got a point, we’re going to move on. It’s been a tough road trip. We played some good teams in some raucous buildings. We were down 2-0 and we found a way to steal a point,” Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle said of his club’s current road woes.
Adam Henrique has seemingly meshed well with his new team; he set Perry’s breakaway goal.
“I felt good on the ice, which is the most important thing for me,” said Henrique, who has an assist in all three games for the Ducks since being acquired in a trade from the New Jersey Devils last Thursday. “That’s been the biggest thing for me.”

John Gibson made 40 saves in taking the loss.
“[Gibson] had a huge first period,” Perry said. “We could’ve been down 5-0. He’s been a rock back there.”
