Vegas ties series with 5-1 win over Idaho

BOISE, Idaho – Facing elimination from the first round at the hands of the Steelheads, the Las Vegas Wranglers scored early, at 17 seconds of the first period and established their dominance in the game over Idaho.
 
Blair Riley netted his this goal of the post season in the first off a feed from Blake Gallagher.   The goal stunned the Boise home crowd and gave life to a Vegas club drained from two previous losses.  
 
Despite the early marker the Steelheads recovered their composure and battled the Wranglers to a draw the reset of the opening frame.  
 
The first period ended with a total of 9 shots on goal recorded and just two for the Steelheads.   The Wranglers looked at this opening period as the statement they needed to make if they wanted to continue the series.
 
In the second, Tyler Mosienko was the star as he scored twice including a powerplay goal with less than two minutes remaining in the period.  
 
Also in the second, Idaho regained its offensive skills and launched 13 shots on goal while limiting Vegas to six in the stanza.

Not taking their foot off the pedal, the Wranglers extended their lead to 4-0 when Chris Higgins potted his second of the series.  
 
Marty Flichel broke the ice for Idaho with his second of the post season to make it 4-1 but a powerplay goal from Vegas’ defenseman Craig Switzer, his first, made it 5-1 at 18:22.
 
Wranglers netminder Michael Ouzas made 29 saves on 30 shots in the win while Jerry Kuhn stopped 16 of 21 total shots in being collared with the loss.
 
The best-of-five series is now tied at two games apiece.
 
The decisive game five will be back in Las Vegas on Tuesday night at 7:05 local time.
