Vegas roll six in win over Kings

In Los Angeles, the visiting Vegas Golden Knights opened up a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes of play on Wednesday and cruised to a 6-2 win over the Kings.

Marc-Andre Fleury made 20 saves for the victory, the win moved him into the fourth spot on the NHL’s all-time wins list.

“Looking back, to be able to be here now and having passed Eddie, who’s a guy I loved watching and have a lot of respect for, it’s pretty cool and I’m very humbled by that,” Fleury said.

Trevor Moore scored both LA goals.

“We’ve worked hard for a number of months right now, we’ve worked hard and we can’t give it back,” Los Angeles head coach Todd McLellan said. “We may not win as many games as we want, but first of all, bring the effort. We’ll help you with the structure and the execution part, but you’ve got to absorb some of that and put it into play as a player.”

Alex Tuch, Max Pacioretty and Tomas Nosek scored in the opening period for Vegas.

Mattias Janmark-Nylen had an assist in his debut with the Knights.

“It was a lot of fun to play with him,” Nosek said. “I think he brings the speed there and skill. I think we had pretty good chemistry for [the] first game, and hopefully we keep it going and be good every game.”

Chandler Stephenson scored off a break away in the middle frame to push the Vegas lead to 4-1.

Mark Stone and Alex Pietrangelo  scored in the third period to end the scoring at 6-2.Jonathan Quick got the start and surrendered the three first period goals, he got the hook in the 16th minute of the first period..

“We have to help our goalies out,” Moore said. “Our goalies have been great all year, and we can’t be letting these odd-man rushes and giving them free looks.”

Calvin Petersen made 21 saves in relief.  Quick made five saves in the opening frame.
