The Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League sent goalie Oscar Dansk to the Las Vegas because Golden Knights have their top two goalies on the sidelines with injuries.
Dansk made 29 saves as the Knights beat the Chicago Blackhawks, 4-2.
“I try not to think about it too much,” Dansk said. “I was just trying to do my part.”
Dansk also put much of the credit for the win on the defense.
“We had a lot of blocked shots today, and I can’t stress that enough,” Dansk said. “It’s really big to take momentum away from them and give us a lot of energy on the bench.”
Vegas got goals from William Karlsson, Tomas Nosek, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, and Jonathan Marchessault .
“I felt pretty good,” Marchessault said after returning from three games on the sidelines. “I was a little slow in the first period, getting my tempo back. I think I played well overall and my linemates helped me.”
Chicago’s goals came from John Hayden and Patrick Kane.
“It’s a fun, exciting atmosphere. There’s no doubt they’re excited to play and just to go out there and not necessarily be the underdogs, but just go out there and try and make teams make plays and score and frustrate them, and they’re really keying off that and getting some energy off that,” Chicago’s Jonathan Toews said after the loss.
The Hawks went scoreless in three power play chances.
“Power play wasn’t very good tonight,” Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville said. “We got disrupted there in about three or four entries in the second period. That might have been a part of the game, we’re talking about having the puck, keeping the puck. A lot of loose pucks that didn’t materialize into anything.”

Corey Crawford made 29 saves in taking the loss.
“Chicago’s a [heck] of a hockey team and we have our minor league goaltenders up here. It’s like what we talked about: It’s the next man up. I thought we played an excellent hockey game against a really good hockey team,” Vegas head coach Gerard Gallant said after the win.
