Vegas extend streak with 3-2 win over Devils

A two-goal second period erased a 2-1 deficit for the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday and sent them to a 3-2 win over the New Jersey Devils.

Ryan Reaves, Brayden McNabb and Max Pacioretty struck for the Knights as they won their sixth straight game.

“It’s obvious we have a lot of confidence right now. We don’t want to get too comfortable,” Pacioretty said. “For Subban to go in there and play the way he did, it’s really nice to see him get rewarded. He’s been great all year. For him to get [two] in a row, it’s been nice to see him get rewarded.”

Vegas is 7-0-2 in their last nine games.

Malcolm Subban made 36 saves to get the win.

“It felt great,” Subban said after his first home start this season. “Anytime you can win at home, we were definitely the better team for most of the game, so I think we deserved this win.”

Ben Lovejoy and Nico Hischier scored for the Devils in the first period.

“Tough start there with a couple of goals (on first five shots), but the boys brought it back and persevered,” Subban said. “I didn’t get too much the rest of the game. A lot of the stuff came from the outside. Can’t complain as a goaltender.”

Keith Kinkaid made 25 saves in the loss as the Devils dropped to 16-18-7.

“I thought we had a good first period,” Devils head coach John Hynes said. “And in the second, they made some pushes and we got a little bit sloppy.”
