In St Louis, the Vegas Golden Knights posted a four spot on the Blues on Wednesday night to erase a 3-1 deficit en route to a 6-3 win.
The Golden Knights improved to 17-5-5.
“We got back in the game,” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. “Our specials teams were able to take advantage.”
Logan Thompson made 26 saves in the win.
The Knights took the lead in the opening stanza on a strike by Zach Whitecloud on a shot that deflected off a Blues defenseman at 8:03.
“Obviously, any of us on the back end all think the same way,” Whitecloud said. “Any time we can contribute, we’re happy to do it. If you keep doing the right things, then good things will come.”
Just over a minute later, the Blues’ Jake Neighbours made it 1-1 off a an off man rush.
St Louis took the lead on a marker form Kevin Hayes midway through the frame, 2-1.
Jordan Kyrou broke a long drought to give the Blues a 3-1 lead headed to the middle frame, his goal came at 17:11.
Jack Eichel got the second period rally going at 9:42 of the middle frame to make it 3-2 for the Blues.
Jonathan Marchessault hit off the power play goal at 11:51 to knot the game, 3-3.
Just 27 seconds later, Keegan Kolesar scored to give the Knights a 4-3 lead.
The Blues dropped to 13-11-1.
“Penalties for sure,” St. Louis coach Craig Berube said on what changed after taking a 3-1 lead. “I thought we took a couple penalties, got them back in the game. That was the difference for me.”
Michael Amadio’s extended the lead with a power play strike with 18 seconds left in the second for a 5-3 lead headed to the third.
“We got away from our game plan, got away from what was working in the first period,” St. Loui’s Brayden Schenn said. “They’re a good team with a lot of skill and obviously know how to win. We just let them back in the game and I took a penalty and before you know it, we’re down 5-3.”
William Karlsson hit an empty net with 12 seconds left on the game clock for the 6-3 final.
Jordan Binnington made 43 saves in the loss.
