Vegas cool Flames

In Las Vegas, Shea Theodore scored for the Golden Knights with under two minutes left in regulation to snap a rally from the Calgary Flames that tied the game at 3-3′ his goal made it 4-3 and the game-winner.

Jonathan Marchessault sealed the win with an empty net goal.

“Points are so tight this time of year, I think getting some confidence from tonight and building off that is going to be key going down the stretch,” Theodore said.

Robin Lehner made 19 saves to earn the win.

Milan Lucic, Dillon Dube and Matthew Tkachuk rallied the Flames back from a 0-3 deficit.

“At this time of year, you can’t dwell on anything,” Lucic said. “What happens here tonight stays tonight. You have to take it like playoff mentality — control what you can — and we still control our own destiny.”

Nick Holden had a goal and two points for the Knights.

“It’s fun that we’re playing these teams right now because the games are really important,” Holden said. “We’ll have to reset and make sure we’re focused for tomorrow.”

Max Pacioretty and Tomas Nosek  also scored for Vegas.

“We know what we have, and we knew we were playing a strong hockey game,” Pacioretty said. “We didn’t give them much. We gave them that Grade A and they were able to capitalize, but we were still creating chances. A lot of good saves by their goaltender. It takes a bounce for us to go up in that game, but it felt like the hard work made us deserve that bounce.”

David Rittich made 27 saves in the loss.

“It’s tough,” Andrew Mangiapane said. “We tied it back up and then I just tried to put a stick there and it ramped off it and went in. Maybe another night it goes out of play or goes in the corner or whatnot. It just happened to go in and it’s tough, but we’ve got to move on from it.”
