ELMIRA, NY – Brampton Beast forward David Vallorani stayed red hot on Saturday night and turned in his second straight two-goal game to help the Beast defeat the Elmira Jackals 5-3 at First Arena, sweeping the weekend home-and-home series.
Brandon MacLean chipped in with three helpers and Garrett Clarke sealed the victory with an empty-netter in front of Beast netminder Zach Fucale, who made 23 saves to earn the victory.
David Pacan got the scoring started for Brampton in the first period as he banged home a loose puck at 13:29, with Brandon Marino and Tim Billingsley earning the assists.
The Beast took the 1-0 lead into the second period before the Jackals turned up the pressure. Brycen Martin and Kenton Miller each scored to give the Jackals the lead by the 15:49 mark of the second period.
The Beast weren’t about to allow the Jackals any momentum heading into the third period. Chris Leveille got his stick on a Brandon MacLean wrist shot in the final minute of the period and beat Jackals netminder Andy Iles at 19:18 to tie the game heading into the intermission.
The Beast used the late-period goal as momentum to start the third period and didn’t wait long to take back the lead.
Vallorani took a perfect feed from MacLean on a 2-on-1 rush and snapped a quick one beyond the reach of Iles, giving the Beast the lad back just 1:23 into the period.
Vallorani and MacLean connected just moments later on a near-identical play. The high-octane duo cut in again on a 2-on-1, instead this time, Vallorani held onto the puck himself and flipped a sneaky backhand shot over the shoulder of Iles, pushing the Beast lead to 4-2 at 2:55 of the third.
Kenton Miller recorded his second of the game at 6:57 to make it close, but Fucale was unbeatable down the stretch and Clarke hit the empty net with a Hail Mary from his own zone to send the Beast home with a victory.
The club will take a few days off before heading to Orlando to face the Solar Bears at 11:00AM on November 24.
Notes: The Beast finished the game 2-for-3 on the penalty kill and 0-for-2 on the man advantage. Molson Three Stars: 3) Miller (ELM) 2) MacLean (BRA) 1) Vallorani (BRA).
