Val-d’Or shuts out Quebec Veteran goaltender Bouchard registers first shutout

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. —Dominating their opponent, the Val-d’Or Foreurs closed the door to win against Quebec shutting them out by the score of 6-0. Six different scorers put the puck behind the Quebec goalie.

Like the night before in Rouyn-Noranda, the home team was the only one breaking the ice scoring the unique goal in the first period. Val-d’Or right winger Julien Gauthier scores his 37th of the season. Gauthier wrist shot beat Quebec goaltender Callum Booth top corner on left side with only 1:59 gone in the opening period.

Val-d’Or Foreurs also got the best on shots on goal 15-11 against Quebec. The Foreurs got two opportunities with a man advantage but their opponent had been successful in killing both opportunities.

Val-d’Or came back in second period dominating the middle frame against Quebec adding three more goals leading 4-0 after forty minutes of play.

Trying to kill penalty to teammate Simon Tremblay, Val-d’Or scores in shorthanded situation. Losing the puck at his own blue line Quebec defenseman Nikolas Brouillard wasn’t able to come back in time as Anthony Richard beat Quebec netminder to his left side at 11:14.

The Foreurs came back more than three minutes later scoring their third goals. Nicholas Aube-Kubel successfully beat Booth under left pads becoming the third 30 goals scorer on the team with 5:20 remaining.

Before the fans heard the siren sound announcing the end of second period Val-d’Or adds a fourth goals to their leads. With the puck coming from Booth net Alexis Pepin beat Quebec goalie between his pads with only 52.4 seconds on the clock.

Olivier Desjardins wrist shot beat Quebec goalie top corner for his first goal of the season at 7:57 of third period and Simon Tremblay redirect a shot by Alexis Pepin for Foreurs sixth goal with 36.5 seconds left on the clock.

Val-d’Or adds two more goals in third periods and Kevin Bouchard the Foreurs goaltender register his first shutout making 29 saves.

Quebec next game will be this Tuesday as they will host arch rival Rimouski Oceanic.
