USHL readies for playoffs

PAPILLION, Neb – The USHL has one remaining playoff position open in each division heading into the last few games of the season.  Waterloo currently sits in fourth place in the East as does Tri-City in the West.  Despite the current standings, neither team holds a substantial lead and will need to win at least half of their remaining games in order to seal their fate.  Currently Green Bay leads the point race with 87 points trailed by Omaha with 80 for the top seed overall.  With two weeks until the end of the regular season, the USHL promises to be an incredible fight to the finish.

Fargo 5, Omaha 4
Matt Leitner contributed four points for the Fargo Force whom defeated Omaha in a shootout 3-2.  Johnnie Seafross and Nate Schmidt had two points apiece for Fargo.
Des Moines 6, Lincoln 4
H.T. Lenz and Ryan Walters had three points apiece for the Buccaneers in their win over Lincoln.  Connor Frick and T.J. Tynan added two points apiece for Des Moines as well.
Cedar Rapids 4, Sioux City 3
Cason Hohmann and Eric Robinson contributed two points apiece for the RoughRiders in the road victory over Sioux City.  Cedar Rapids would win the shootout 4-3.

Sioux City 1, Cedar Rapids 0
Matt Skoff made 28 saves for the Musketeers in the shut out win.  Nick Sorkin scored the lone goal of the game in the end of the first period for Sioux City.
Lincoln 6, Fargo 0
Matt Green made 29 saves for the Lincoln Stars to acquire his third shutout this season.  Lincoln’s offensive attack was led by Kyle Gibbons who accumulated three points in the win.
Team USA 4, Tri-City 1
John Gibson made 38 of 39 saves for the win, picking up his sixth win this season for Team USA.  Robbie Russo recorded three assists for Team USA’s offensive attack.
Waterloo 8, Des Moines 6
The Black Hawks J.T. Brown had five points in the gun fight victory, scoring four goals in the process.  Patrick Divjak would record three points for Waterloo to compliment Brown’s standout evening.
Omaha 6, Youngstown 1
Dakota Eveland had two goals and two assists for four points to lead Omaha past the Phantoms.  Omaha’s John Keeney made 26 saves for his sixth win this season.  Keeney allowed one goal lowering his goals against average to a mere 1.78.

Omaha 5, Sioux Falls 2
Tom Craig and Justin Holl led the Lancers with two points apiece to stun the Stampede.  Jeff Teglia made 27 saves for Omaha for his 27th win of the season.
Lincoln 2, Team USA 0
Matt Green made 24 saves for the Lincoln Stars to blank Team USA.  Lincoln’s offense led an impressive attack launching 39 shots on net as Ryan Dzingel and Tyler Deresky would score.
Fargo 5, Tri-City 2
Ryan Massa made 44 saves for Fargo who won their 35th game this season.  Matt Leitner and Nate Schmidt recorded two points apiece in the Force win.
Sioux City 3, Youngstown 2
The Musketeers would win the shootout 3-2 against the Phantoms to seal the overtime win.  Stephen Vigier and Ryan Carpenter would score a goal each and Matt Skoff would make 28 saves in the win.
