Sioux City 6, USA Hockey NTDP 5

The visiting Musketeers got goals from six different players in claiming a 6-5 road win over USA Hockey NDTP Friday night.
Sioux City owned a 13-9 shot advantage and held a 3-2 lead after the first period of action on goals from Hagen Burrows, Tate Pritchard and Brian Nicholas. The NTDP rallied to score the final two goals of the period with Andrew O’Neill and Will Moore responding.
The NTDP evened things at 2:55 of the second on a LJ Mooney marker, but the Musketeers, on goals from Max Strand at 6:13 and Ty Hanson at 11:28, went up 5-3. Drew Schock’s power play goal at 19:33 got the NTDP within one before the end of the period.
Ethan Garula’s goal, which proved to be the game-winner, made it a 6-4 Sioux City lead at 7:09 of the final stanza. NTDP’s Cole McKinney got his first goal as a USHLer at 18:32 to close out the scoring in the game.
Sioux City’s Jacub Krbecek turned aside 18 of 23 shots to record the win, while Harrison Boettiger was credited with 18 saves for the NTDP.
Green Bay 5, Des Moines 1
Box Score
Only recently added to the roster, forward Julian Lutz’s natural hat trick helped lead Green Bay to a 5-1 win at Des Moines.
Lutz, a 2022 second-round NHL draft pick by Arizona, scored the game’s first goal on the power play at 18:34 of the opening period. His next two goals, one at 14:26 of the second (also on the power play) and the other at 18:51, gave the Gamblers a 3-0 lead at the end of two periods of action.
Libor Nemec made it a 4-0 lead at 4:33 of the third, before Des Moines got on the board with a tally from defenseman Jack Kernan at 13:01. William Hughes scored an empty-net marker at 18:51 to make it 5-1.
Ben Poitras had four assists for Green Bay and Adam Gajan was outstanding in net for the Gamblers, stopping 50 of 51 shots.
Waterloo 5, Chicago 2

The visiting Black Hawks took control of the game with a four-goal second period enroute to a 5-2 road win at Chicago Friday.
Following a scoreless first period in which Waterloo outshot the Steel 15-6, Jaeden Kerr got the ball rolling for the Black Hawks with his second goal of the season coming at 3:41. Rookie Lukas Sawchyn responded for Chicago at 10:30, but Waterloo tallied three times over the course of a three-minute span near the end of the period on goals from Griffin Erdman, John Mustard and Brock Schultz and led 4-1 at the end of two.
Jakub Altrichter got a Waterloo shorthanded goal at 2:57 of the third in making it a 5-1 lead, while Chicago’s Mick Thompson tallied at 17:16 to complete the scoring in the contest.
Waterloos Calvin Vachon kicked out 23 shots in gaining the win, while Chicago’s Christian Manz had 31 saves at the other end of the rink.
Youngstown 3, Lincoln 0

Owen Bartoszkiewicz did not allow a goal as Youngstown prevailed 3-0 in Lincoln Friday.
Bartoszkiewicz, who played at the University of Minnesota in 2022-23, stopped 26 shots in picking up his second shutout of the season in the win.
The Phantoms, last year’s Clark Cup champions, scored all three of their goals in the second period in claiming their fourth win of the season. Adam Pietila scored a shorthanded marker at 1:24 after jumping out of the penalty box and converting on a breakaway chance. Jack Willson made it 2-0 at 14:04 and Brecken Smith’s first goal of the year at 15:22 upped it to a 3-0 Youngstown lead for the game’s last goal.
Lincoln owned 26-25 shots on goal advantage in the game and Yon Shostak had 22 saves for the Stars.
Madison 4, Muskegon 1
Box Score
Madison remained unbeaten in regulation for the season by claiming a 4-1 home win over Muskegon Friday.
The Capitols, who stand 5-0-1-0 for the year, faced a 1-0 first-period deficit, but scored four unanswered goals in skating to the win.
Ty Henricks got the Lumberjacks on the board at 13:38 of the opening period, but defenseman Will Felicio’s goal two minutes later sent the two teams into the locker room tied at 1-1 after 20 minutes of action.
Charlie Michaud’s first goal of the season, which came at 12:31, was the only goal of the second period, and the Capitols closed out the win on third-period goals from Chris Delaney at 17:25 and Max Nagel at 19:26.
Patriks Berzins stopped 28 of 29 shots to get the win for Madison, while Lukas Swedin turned aside 44 shots for the Lumberjacks.
Dubuque 7, Omaha 3
Box Score
Dubuque continued its perch atop the Eastern Conference standings by picking up a 7-3 home win over Omaha Friday.
The Fighting Saints, which have yet to lose in regulation and stand 5-0-1-1 for the year, got a pair of goals from Michael Barron and three assists from Juraj Pekarcik in the victory.
Barron got both of his goals in the first period, while Lucas St. Louis, Gavin Cornforth and Colin Frank also scored for the Fighting Saints in the opening frame. Justin Stupka scored for the visiting Lancers and after the first period of play the scored favored Dubuque 5-1.
Stupka got his second in the middle stanza, but a goal from Charlie Arend earlier in the period, made it 6-2 Dubuque lead at the end of two periods.
Nick Pierre’s first goal of the year for Omaha at 2:05 of the third, was offset by a James Reeder marker thirty seconds later in making it a final score of 7-3.
Thatcher Bernstein had 27 saves for Dubuque to record the win.
Fargo 5, Cedar Rapids 1
Box Score
Fargo is still unbeaten after gaining a 5-1 road victory at Cedar Rapids Friday.
The Force, who stand 5-0-0-0 for 2023-24, got a goal and an assist from Mac Swanson and a pair of goals from Zam Plante in the game.
Harper Bentz and Swanson scored goals at 5:42 and 10:30 of the opening frame as the Force jumped out to an early lead.
Plante’s fourth goal of the year, which came on the power play at the 1:00-minute mark of the second, made it 3-0 and it became a four-goal lead at 13:05 on a tally from Lee Parks. Cade Littler’s rising shot beat Anton Castro at 14:51 as the RoughRiders made it a three-goal deficit, but Plante’s second goal of the game late in the third sealed the win for the visiting Force.
Castro recorded 14 saves to pick up the win for Fargo.
Tri-City 1, Sioux Falls 0
Box Score
A defensive battle in Sioux Falls saw one goal scored in the game and it was the visiting Tri-City Storm that came away with the win.
Brant Harper’s first-period tally, which came at 4:08 of the first period was the only scoring in the game as the two netminders – Cameron Korpi from Tri-City and Caleb Heil from Sioux Falls, took turns making saves.
Korpi finished with 26 stops in picking up his first shutout of the season. Heil had 18 saves for the Stampede.
Tri-City upped its record to 5-2-0-0 with the win, while Sioux Falls drops to 4-1-1-0
