Dylan McIlrath will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Monday.
The Washington Capitals defenseman is facing discipline for an illegal check to the head against Boston Bruins forward Steven Fogarty.
The incident occurred at 35 seconds of the third period of the Capitals’ 3-2 shootout loss at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. on Sunday. McIlrath received a match penalty. Fogarty left the game and did not return.
The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: illegal check to the head. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.

The Ottawa Senators forward is facing discipline for cross-checking Winnipeg Jets forward Pierre-Luc Dubois
The incident occurred at 10:31 of the second period of the Senators’ 3-2 preseason overtime win against the Jets at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg on Sunday. Greig received a major penalty for cross-checking and a game misconduct. Dubois left the game but returned for the third period.
The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: cross-checking. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.
