Week 8 of the Elite League season begins with two intriguing midweek clashes as Belfast Giants host Cardiff Devils and Guildford Flames welcome Sheffield Steelers.

Belfast return home to the SSE Arena for their first home league game of the season, having collected four points from three road fixtures so far. Cardiff, meanwhile, remain unbeaten in regulation in league play and are one of the early pacesetters. The game also forms part of the European Hockey Alliance annual conference, which is being hosted by the Giants in Belfast this week.
At the Spectrum, Guildford host Sheffield just four days after the Steelers edged them with a last-minute winner in Yorkshire. The Flames responded the following night with an impressive victory over defending champions Belfast, while Sheffield secured top spot in their Challenge Cup group on Sunday and have picked up seven points from five league starts so far.
