Two early goals by Giants where all they needed to deliver a 2-0 defeat of the Flames in Belfast.
Marcus Eriksson on a powerplay less than 3 minutes after start put Giants in front and seconds later Ciaran Long doubled the advantage that remained on the board through remainder of the set.
The 14-9 shot count that favoured Belfast in the 1st carried over and repeated itself in the 2nd with Justin Fazio and Jackson Whistle each turning away all the rubber they saw across the frame leaving Flames still in a 2 goal hole to begin the 3rd.
Nothing changed across the final 20 minutes despite the visitors tipping the shots 11-9 across the segment.
Fazio made 35 saves on 37 shots while Whistle posted the clean sheet with 29 saves at his end.
