Toledo, OH – Forwards Shane Berschbach (BERSCH-back) and AJ Jenks have agreed to terms with the Toledo Walleye for the 2017-18 season. The two have combined for 332 points over the last three years in Walleye uniforms.
Berschbach, a native of Clawson, Michigan, set a new single season Walleye records with 68 assists and 86 points during the 2016-17. The ECHL named him the recipient of the Sportsmanship Award winner for a second consecutive season and finished as a forward on the All-ECHL Second Team. Heading into this season he is the Walleye All-Time leader in points (216) and also holds the top spot in assists (159).
“Shane has developed into an elite player over the past three seasons,” said Head Coach Dan Watson. “His determination to be great is something special and you can see the desire to reward the Toledo fans with a championship.”
The 26-year-old has appeared in 196 games over the previous three years in Toledo with plus 42 rating. This past season he completed a career best 70 games played. In three playoff seasons he has performed at a point per game with 47 (12G, 35A) in 45 contests. Berschbach was named to the All-ECHL First Team following the 2015-16 season with 67 points featuring a career best 24 goals with 43 assists.
