TULSA, Okla. – Fresh off a hard-fought, physical 5-2 road win against the Kansas City Mavericks on Wednesday, the Tulsa Oilers announced Thursday that the team’s home opener has been postponed.
A team press release issued earlier today cited “an unforeseen icemaking mechanical failure” at the BOK Center as the reason for the postponement of Saturday’s scheduled game with the Mavericks. No further details outlining the cause of the mechanical failure were given.
The venue, however, will not be empty on Saturday, as the team has scheduled an impromptu party that will start at 5pm. Tickets and vouchers issued for the game will allow fans admission to the event that will include free food and drinks along with several family-friendly activities. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will also receive a free 2021-22 Oilers magnet schedule.
A new date for the game has yet to be released, but the team says that tickets will be good for the rescheduled date in addition to tickets for the team’s home game against the Idaho Steelheads on Saturday, November 6. Those tickets will be available at the party, while unredeemed vouchers for the opener will be honored on November 6.
The Oilers are riding a two-game winning streak after playing the first three games of ther 2021-22 season on the road.
The schedule change means that Tulsa’s game with Idaho on Thursday, November 4 will become the new home opener.
