Tucson runs past Rampage, 5-2

SAN ANTONIO  – The Tucson Roadrunners (26-28-7-0) registered five unanswered goals to defeat the San Antonio Rampage (25-35-5-2) 5-2 on Tuesday night at the Tucson Convention Center Arena. 

San Antonio and Tucson combined for five goals in the opening period, beginning with a Rampage goal from Gabriel Bourque just 37 seconds into regulation. One minute later, Rocco Grimaldi landed his 28th goal of the season thanks to a faceoff win from Colin Smith, giving the Rampage a 2-0 lead.

Despite the early lead, the Roadrunners registered their first of the night when Ryan MacInnis finished a pass from Jamie McBain and Jarred Tinordi at the 6:07 mark.

Tucson tied the game 39 seconds later thanks to a power-play goal from Jeremy Morin, who collected his 12 of the season at the 6:46 mark.

San Antonio surrendered the lead nearly seven minutes later when Chris Mueller punished the Rampage with a shorthanded goal, giving the Roadrunners a 3-2 lead heading into the first intermission.

After a scoreless second period, Tucson added a fourth goal 13:53 in the third stanza when Conor Garland went top shelf on Rampage netminder Spencer Martin. The Roadrunners added insurance at the 17:58 mark when Laurent Dauphin secured the victory with a empty-net goal.
