Trade Brings Two-Time CHL All Star Banga to Brahmas

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas – The Brahmas have added more bang to their offensive roster with the acquisition of Travis Banga from the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. Texas traded forward Topher Scott and future considerations from the Wichita Thunder (Matt Byrnes), Rocky Mountain and Rapid City to the Killer Bees.

Banga who is a two-time CHL All Star (2007 and 2008) has spent the last two years with Rio Grande, five total in the Central Hockey League where he has posted 269 points (116G, 153A) in 246 games played, an average of more than a point per game. The 2008 season saw Banga leading Rio Grande in scoring earning 61 points (23G, 38A), his second strongest season of his career.

For the 2009 season, Banga has only seen action in 19 games but has posted 18 points (9G, 9A) for a + 3 rating.

With the numbers that Banga is capable of producing, expectations are high from Brahmas head coach Dan Wildfong.

“Travis has been an all star in our league and will add a scoring touch and energy to the lineup,” Wildfong said. “It is always tough to lose a guy, but we believe the addition of Travis will help us to our goal; the President’s Cup.”

Banga is expected to wear the Brahmas uniform for the first time Friday night when Texas travels to Mississippi for game three of their four game road trip.
