Towson top Wagner, 7-2 for Crab Pot title

Annapolis-MD: For the second year in a row, it was the Towson Tigers skating off with the coveted Crab Pot trophy at the 41st annual Crab Pot Tournament. The tournament is an annual event hosted by the United States Naval Academy Midshipmen. The victory for Towson came against a Wagner College team that only had ten skaters and three goaltenders on their roster. The championship game was set up by Towson defeating the University of Maryland Terrapins on Friday night, while Wagner defeated Navy in the nightcap.

Towson jumped out to a lead they would never relinquish at 5:33 of the first on an unassisted goal by Jeremy Snyder.

Approximately two minutes later, it was Ryan Brady scoring on an assist from Snyder, the games first goal scorer. Wagner was able to cut the lead in half with 10:42 remaining on a goal from Noah Gold, assisted by Brandon Hutchison.

With 2:02 remaining, it was Towson retaking a two goal lead when Tyler Darby scored with an assist from Sean Johnson. Towson started to pour it on a minute late when Jack Boyer assisted Brandon Potter to extend the lead.

The second period saw Towson and Wagner trade goals with Towson scoring first 4:32 into the period. Matt Stella scored from Tyler Darby, while Wagner’s Noah Gold hooked up with an assist from Brandon Hutchison again.

It was Towson’s specail teams doing the work in the third, with a power play and a short handed goal. Jeremy Snyder got his second goal on a feed from Matt Curtin. The short handed goal was scored on Matt Stella’s seond goal of the game

Jacob Snyder was in goal for Towson, making 37 saves on 39 shots. Wagner’s Martin Moine made 28 saves on 35 shots.
