Towson edge Midshipmen, 4-3, in tight contest

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Friday night at McMullen Arena, the Navy Midshipmen fell to the Towson University Tigers in a hard fought match.

The first period saw Towson jump out to a 1-0 lead while out shooting Navy 9 – 7.

PHN_BSOG-200x133In the second period, Towson scored two more goals for a 3-0 lead before the Midshipmen were able to get on the board with 7:45 remaining.

Navy then scored again several minutes later and the period ended with the Tigers up 3-2

Navy turned up the offense in the second period and dominated the shots on goal by 22–17 margin.

Navy continued the push in the third and tied the game on a goal from Cole Maetzold.

But Towson got the winning tally less than 30 seconds later; Matt Stella scored the game-winner for Towson.

Both teams played well while killing penalties and both sides killed off 5-on-3 penalties.

Jeremy Snyder, Matthew Mcguire and Matt Stella also scored for Towson.

Navy’s goals were picked up by Luke Turk and Jack O Hear.

Tyler Stewardson picked up the win for Towson in net while Matthew Truninger took the loss for the Midshipmen.
