FRISCO, Texas – The Texas Tornado were glad to come back from being down during the game against the Wichita Falls WildCats as they won 4-3. The victory lifted the Tornado to a record of 28-11-6 to tie the Topeka Road Runners for second in the South Division.
The Wildcats had jumped off with two goals by George Pagnois when the Tornado scored a power play goal by Nick Neville when he sent a slap shot through a screen past Wildcats goalie JoJo Jeanetta. Neville’s fourth goal of the season came at 4:49 and cut the Wildcats lead in half.
But the Wildcats regained their momentum in the 3rd period as Rento Engler scored and the Wildcats took a 3-2 lead. A quick goal by Michael Hoy slimmed the Warriors by one goal. Then late in the third period, their captain and leading goal scorer, Jack Prince, scored two important power plays to lift the Tornado to a 4-3 victory.
“The game was pretty good. We didn’t have a strong 1st and 2nd period but it always doesn’t matter in hockey. You can play well and can play bad, as long as your momentum is better than their’s you can pull out win in the game,” Jack Prince said after the game against the Wildcats.
Head Coach Tony Curtale said after the game, “Jack Prince is a tough, speedy forward who brings quality to the game. He is tough and hard to push off the puck. His two goals lifted our team to victory.”
The Tornado and Wildcats will close out this three-game weekend series on Saturday, with a 7:00 faceoff from Kay Yeager Coliseum in Wichita Falls.
