TOLEDO, OH – Simon Denis netted a goal and an assist on Sunday night at the Huntington Center as the Walleye outlasted the Beast 3-2. Toledo now has an overall record of 41-13-2-1 and is 20-5-1-1 at home.
Nastasiuk took a pass from Alden Hirschfeld and Simon Denis and found the back of the net for his ninth goal of the season 6:29 into the first frame. With 5:11 left in the first frame, Shane Berschbach netted his 14th of the season. Hirschfeld was credited with his second assist of the night.
Brampton cut the Walleye lead to one 7:40 into the second period, as one snuck past Toledo goalie Jeff Lerg. Denis put the Walleye back out in front by two with his eleventh of the year, followed by a 5-on-3 Brampton goal, which led to a 3-2 Walleye lead at the end of the second.
Walleye Notes: Lerg started and stopped 32 of the 34 Brampton shots he faced and has a season record of 2-1-1-0. This was Lerg’s 62nd career win. The Walleye are 6-2-1- against Brampton.
