Toledo edges Fort Wayne in game one win

TOLEDO, Ohio – Matt Caito recorded two assists as the Walleye edged Fort Wayne on Friday night in Game 1 of the DIvision FInals by a score of 2-1 in Toledo. Game 2 will be played tomorrow at the Huntington Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.

The first period saw no goals from either team, with Toledo holding the lone power play. Fort Wayne led in shots in the initial frame, 7-6.

Landon Oslanski netted the first goal of the game almost three minutes in when his shot found the back of the net on the power play. Matt Caito and Jeff Lerg were credited with the assists. Fort Wayne evened the score on a top-shelf goal midway through the second. Toledo retook the lead for good on another power play goal later in the period, this time courtesy of A.J. Jenks on the deflection in front of Pat Nagle. Caito was given his second assist of the game.

Walleye notes: Jeff Lerg got the nod for the home team in his first start of the playoffs. He stopped 24 of the 25 shots he faced in the game.
