Timra IK send Steelers to 4-1 defeat

SHEFFIELD, UK –  Evan McGrath scored his 3rd goal of pre season and Jackson Whistle collected his 3rd man of the match performance in the clubs final pre season exhibition game.

Steelers went down to Timra 4-1, but the score line didn’t do the performance and effort credit at all.

Without Captain Jonathan Phillips, Mark Matheson, Robert Dowd, Matt Rupert and Chris Lawrence the Steelers were down to the bare bones, things got even worse when Brandon Whistle took a blast of a slap shot in the foot and was taken to hospital for x-rays and further examinations.

Steelers trailed after 4.28 when Christoffer Jansson opened the scoring.

Evan McGrath though equalised 52 seconds later, assisted Jordan Owens to lift the crowd and the team.

With Stefan Della Rovere off for kneeing Timra struck on the power-play, Rickard Palmberg scoring at 16.11 (1-2)

Timra scored the only goal of the middle period, with Josh McFadden sitting out 2 for tripping Mattias Guster doubled Timra’s advantage (1-3)

Jackson Whistle was again outstanding, earning the sides man of the match awards for the second night running.

Steelers battled and killed penalties with just 9 forwards and 5 defensemen. After killing a string of late penalties in the final period Timra finally scored a 4th when Vilmos Gallo converted on the 5-3 power-play.
