SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Sharks gave the Anaheim Ducks their ninth straight loss, with the help of Timo Meier’s hat trick, with a final score of 4-1 at the SAP Center.
Marc-Edouard Vlasic scored the solo goal in the first period for the Sharks, with a one-timer through traffic. His goal was assisted by Ryan Merkley and Scott Reedy.
Timo Meier scored the only goal of the second period, 1:41 into the period, to give the Sharks the 2-goal lead. His goal was assisted by Alexander Barabanov.
The Ducks, Gerry Mayhew scored the only goal for the Ducks, right up the slot at 1:05 into the stanza, assisted by Dominik Simon. A short time later, Meier scored again, on a power play, assisted by Barabanov and Tomas Hertl.
Hats began to fly at 15:55, when Meier scored his third for the night, and 30 for the season, assisted by Hertl and Brent Burns.
This was Meier’s second hat trick of the season, and his third in the NHL. He scored five goals in a 6-2 win against the Los Angeles Kings on Jan. 17.
Hertl’s assist on the final goal marked his 200th in the NHL.

Sharks netminder James Reimer earned the win for the night, with 27 saves. Lukas Dostal posted 20 saves in his first start since mid-January for the Ducks.
