Tigers weekend preview An official statement will be made about the club early next week.

Telford Tigers will “play for the fans” when they host basement side Bracknell Bees at Telford Ice Rink tomorrow night.

The English Premier League leaders are now six points clear at the top of the standings, following last week’s wins over second-placed Milton Keynes.

They will be looking to extend that advantage at home tomorrow (6pm), before making the trip to face Peterborough Phantoms on Sunday.

And head coach Tom Watkins wants his men to treat the Bees with respect.

He said: “You have to handle every game the same and Bracknell went up to Sheffield the other week and won, so they’re on a bit of a run.

“We have got to play to our level, show good commitment, and it is at home, so we have to come to play for the fans.”

Those victories over the Lightning saw youngster Corey McEwen score four goals, including a last-gasp overtime winner in Milton Keynes.

But Watkins has few worries about McEwen’s ability to handle the limelight.

He added: “It was a remarkable weekend for Corey, and he’s a great kid who has come in here, worked hard and is in great shape.

“He has got the skills to put up good numbers and is very hard to play against, but of course consistency is a big factor for the young guys.

“Matty Davies has been injured, and that has created a good opportunity for others to step into that second line centre role.

“Corey has put up some good numbers with that extra responsibility and added minutes.”
