Tigers take big win over Bracknell Bees

Head coach Tom Watkins, who is still unbeaten at home this season, praised his side’s high-scoring display against the Berkshire men.

He said: “It was our biggest offensive display of the season, although we made a bit of a slow start trying to get our minds into it.

“I’m really proud and pleased with the boys for the way they battled, even in the last five minutes tonight.

“Phil Hill blocked a shot, as did other guys, and Sammy was prepared to drop the gloves early on.

“They all showed a lot of character, which shows how much they want to win.”

Telford found themselves a goal ahead after just three minutes on Saturday night, thanks to an early strike from Milan Kolena.

But they had to wait until the start of the second period to double that advantage, with a goal from Jason Silverthorn.

The visitors threatened to spring a surprise with two goals in quick succession on 25 minutes, but Telford pulled clear during the rest of the session.

Kolena, Silverthorn and Adam Jones all scored, as Telford found themselves 5-2 ahead at end of the second period.

Both Kolena and Silverthorn completed their hat-tricks in the final 20 minutes, alongside further goals from Michal Satek, Rick Plant, Danny Rose and Dan Scott.

Watkins added: “Jason is a quality player and we bounced Milan around a bit at the start of the season through different lines.

“I think over the last few weeks that lines of Ricky, Jason and Milan has started to produce and it is good to see.

“It was good to get everyone in the game later on and we were rolling six defence and nines forwards at that point.”

The Tigers return to action on Sunday night, when they make the trip to face Peterborough Phantoms.
