The Tigers NIHL are a step closer to completing their roster with the return of Callum Griffin and James Callagher – but a “surprise” signing could still be on the way.
The pair were part of a Telford squad that won promotion to the Moralee Conference last season, before narrowly losing out to Solihull Barons in the play-off final.
They are likely to be two of the final additions to next season’s Tigers NIHL line-up, as Assistant Coach Jason Parry prepares for life at the higher level.
He said: “Both players bring something different, but also very useful, to the team.
“Callum has great skill and potential. He was picked out as one to watch last season by senior members of the EPL squad, and played a key role on a power play during the latter stages of the season.
“Callagher, or Bricks as he’s known to his team mates, always gives a 100%, he does whatever is needed for the team. From a coach’s point of view, this is exactly the attitude we will be looking for.”
Tigers NIHL General Manager, Mike Washburn, is delighted to welcome the pair back – and hinted at further activity in the transfer market.
He said: “Both of these players are great characters and valuable assets to the team. As Jason states they have differing skills and attributes to offer.
“For me Callum has great hands and a shot that quite honestly you would not want to get in the way of! James on the other hand, is a real gritty solid hard-hitting type of player.
“Individually and collectively they compliment the team well and are a key part of delivering depth to our line up. I am really pleased to welcome them back for another season.
“As we draw towards the start of the season we are very nearly roster complete, though as ever we are always on the look out for exceptional players to join our pathway of talent.
“With this in mind, we might still have at least one more surprise singing, of a player who was developed outside Telford, but is still a familiar face to Tigers fans.”
