Telford Tigers NIHL will be looking to keep their Moralee Conference play-off hopes alive when they host Billlingham Stars on Saturday afternoon.
The two sides have been locked in a season-long battle for fourth place, with Telford currently having a two-point lead over the Teesside outfit.
But that advantage could easily be reversed in coming weeks, ahead of a sequence of games that sees Telford travel to Billingham next weekend.
And head coach Jason Parry will prepare his men for a match that may yet decide the make-up of that end-of-season tournament.
He said: “It is a huge game in terms of the play-off race and we need to beat the teams around us. At home, that is even more important for us.
“It’s likely that we won’t have a full squad to choose from, but nevertheless we have got a good squad of players to choose from this weekend.
“I am looking forward to the game and so are our players, which is especially important at this stage of the season. There is a lot at stake.”
Telford currently have the upper hand over Billingham, following victory in their previous two meetings at the start of the season.
Those games were, however, won by just one or two goals, and Parry remains wary of a reversal in fortunes.
He added: “Each game we have played against Billingham this season has been close and very low scoring.
“I don’t expect Saturday to be any different to those, so I am anticipating a very close match this weekend.”
Saturday’s game with Billingham Stars, at Telford Ice Rink, faces off at 5.30pm.
