The Tigers are English Premier League champions – and Head Coach Tom Watkins wants to celebrate with a title party at home to Basingstoke Bison on Sunday night.
Telford ended their 27-year wait for a league championship with a 5-4 victory over Peterborough Phantoms on Saturday evening.
Sunday’s visit of Basingstoke is now set to take on a party atmosphere, with a full-house expected at Telford Ice Rink.
Watkins paid tribute to his side’s achievements – and immediately turned his attention to giving Tigers fans an evening to remember.
He said: “I am sure it will sink in eventually, but at the moment it is just a fantastic feeling. It has been building up all week, so I am really pleased that we took the league with a win.
“We will enjoy the moment tonight and come to work tomorrow against Basingstoke. All the guys are pretty excited about celebrating with the fans at home, in what should be a packed building.
“It’s been five years of really hard work and I’m really happy for the guys who were in the trust years, like Scott McKenzie and Nathan Salem. They’ve all raised their game and that is what this club is all about.
“I also want to thank my family, who have helped me focus on my work a lot.”
McKenzie was Telford’s top forward in Peterborough with two goals, while Peter Szabo, Joe Miller and Nathan Salem also chipped in with crucial strikes.
Watkins added: “It’s more a feeling of a relief at the moment, rather than elation. It is great to see the boys celebrating, and that is what I like to see.
“They’ve worked really hard to get here and have had a lot of pressure this year. The one thing we do as a team is work hard and if we do that every night, we’ll be very hard to beat.”
Sunday night’s game against Basingstoke Bison faces off at 5.45pm.
