The Tigers dismissed an aggressive start from Sheffield Steeldogs to book their first ever place in the English Premier League play-off finals at Coventry next weekend.
Saturday night’s encounter at Telford Ice Rink, which eventually ended 6-3, followed a dramatic end to Friday’s clash in Yorkshire.
The final stages of that game was littered with penalties, as both sides looked to snatch a precious spot in the end-of-season jamboree.
And those tactics appeared to work during the opening stages on Saturday, with the visitors taking an early lead through Lloyd Gibson.
Telford soon hit back through Scott McKenzie on 14 minutes and although Sheffield again took the lead, Blaho Novak gave The Tigers a 3-2 advantage at the first break.
Further strikes from James Smith and Rupert Quiney extended that lead in the second session, with a further late strike from McKenzie.
Telford’s Owen Bennett and Sheffield coach Andre Payette came to blows late in the game, with the result then beyond doubt.
And for Tigers Head Coach Tom Watkins, Saturday’s match was a tough mental test.
He said: “It was a bit flat in the second game and for the guys it was quite hard mentally, going into it with that 5-0 lead.
“To see a couple of the younger guys get onto the sheet was really pleasing. They did the simple things right, got the puck in the right areas and were rewarded.
“It is so pleasing to make it through to the
final, and the real hockey starts now.”
Watkins also paid tribute to a season-long effort from his side, following their final home game of the season.
“It has been a fantastic season for everyone involved with the club,” he said.
“From a coaching point of view, all the guys have been great and it’s been good for the fans to be involved. To have that behind us has transformed the club. It has been a massive year for us all.”
On Friday night, meanwhile, Telford put in a disciplined performance to emerge 5-0 winners from a bruising game at Ice Sheffield.
Goals from Nathan Salem (2), Jason Silverthorn, Jonathan Weaver and McKenzie handed The Tigers victory.
