STOCKTON, Calif. – The Stockton Thunder took to the ice for a three-game series against the Alaska Aces, and went away with four of the six points available. The wins were monumental, giving Thunder head coach Matt Thomas his 300 wins as a professional coach.
Thomas is in his fourth year as head coach for the Stockton Thunder. Since earning his first position with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies in 2004-05, he has never missed the post season play.
Thomas is only the eighth coach in ECHL history to reach 300 wins. In the post game comments, Thomas said he was humbled by the milestone.
The feat came in the Thunder’s third game in as many days against the Conference leaders Alaska Aces, and marks the final game of ten against them this season. Stockton is now 29-24-1-4, with 63 points in fifth place in the Conference. Their magic number has been reduced to six.
The Thunder hits the road for a four game series beginning in Colorado on Tuesday.
