Thunder and Mavericks game postponed, rescheduled for Sunday

WICHITA, Kan. Friday night’s ECHL game between the Wichita Thunder and Kansas City Mavericks was postponed just seven minutes into the contest due to unplayable ice conditions inside Intrust Bank Arena. Fans experienced a delay of more than an hour while crews attempted to make repairs to the playing surface.

The game was eventually postponed, and subsequently rescheduled for Sunday, December 1. The game will continue from the point it was stopped, with the teams tied at 1-1. Crews reportedly planned to flood the ice surface during the overnight hours in order to have the surface repaired for Saturday night’s game between the Mavericks and Thunder.

Fans will be allowed to use their ticket stubs to receive admission to any future Wichita Thunder home game, including Sunday.
