Three power play goals lift Sabres over Flames, 4-2

BUFFALO, The Sabres managed three goals on the power play to get past the Calgary Flames, 4-2, Monday night.

Buffalo broke open a tight game in the middle frame with three goals including one from Kyle Okposo.

“I just think we had a little bit of time; we got some good breaks,” Okposo said. “It was a bit of a smorgasbord. There was some set things that we wanted to do that weren’t happening, so we were improving and using our hockey sense. Sometimes that’s the way it happens.”Buffalo Sabres logo

Johan Larsson and Matt Moulson both scored in the second on the power play.

“It’s nice. I think fans probably enjoyed it; a good way to get a win,” Moulson said.

Brian Elliott (28 saves) was victimized in the second period with the three goals in a span of 1:41.

Mikael Backlund  and Matthew Tkachuk scored for the Flames.

“We put ourselves in a bad position to kill too much tonight,” Tkachuk said. “There’s probably some wear and tear on some players [who are on the penalty kill a lot], so overall, just not a good game.”

Robin Lehner made 29 saves for the win.
