In Calgary, the Buffalo Sabres’ Tage Thompson hit for the game’s only goal with time winding down in extra time on Friday night.
Thompson raced for the puck off a board pass, Flames goalie Jacob Markstrom misplayed the puck, and Thompson collected it near the goal for a tap in winner.
The 1-0 win pushed the Sabres to 21-33-8.
Dustin Tokarski made 24 saves in the shutout win.
Calgary dropped to 37-16-8.
Markstrom made 33 saves in the Flames loss.
