The new season sees us back to a full schedule of 82 games. Seven months of non-stop action (and a few fights of course) lie ahead of us. Can Tampa Bay Lightnings complete a hat-trick of Stanley Cup wins is one of the largest talking points as the new season begins.
Ice-hockey is such a thrilling sport and even better if placing some bets on games. All top bookmakers offer odds on the top games that are played.
In-play betting is even more exciting with the odds changing constantly, all depending on what is happening on the rink. Just who are the favourites to win can change, especially during a power play, and see just what we mean.
There’s been plenty of excitement in Tampa Bay over the last two seasons. Throw in a Super Bowl winning NFL side and it’s been a great time for sport in the city. The most excitement at the moment though must be in Seattle.
This season sees the debut of the Seattle Kraken. They are the new team in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference. The Kraken will be hoping to strike some fear in their rivals and although losing their first game, won their second with a 4-3 win over the Nashville Predators.

It’s been a bit of a wait for Seattle Kraken to finally make their NHL debut. They received approval three years ago and It was last year when their name was revealed. It’s cost millions of dollars to be accepted into the NHL.
Not since 1975 has there been an ice-hockey team in the city when the Seattle Totems last played in the Western Hockey League. It’s been an even longer wait for a Seattle side to be in the NHL. 104 years ago, the Stanley Cup was won by the Seattle Metropolitans but they ceased playing just seven years later.
Their home venue isn’t ready yet and their pre-season games took place at Washington venues. The first five NHL game are all being played on the road. Then comes October 26 when they finally play their first home game against the Vancouver Canucks.
Their debut in the NHL came against the Vegas Golden Knights on October 12 and they didn’t get off to the best of starts. Inside seven minutes the Kraken went 2-0 down. A third was added in the second quarter before two goals were scored by Seattle. They drew level in the third period but Vegas got a late winner to get their season off to a winning start with a 4-3 win.
The first win for the Kraken came in their second match two days later. They took on the Nashville Predators and again conceded early on. Two goals in a first period powerplay saw them take the lead in an NHL match for the first time. Nashville equalized in the second period but Seattle stormed into a 4-2 lead. A late goal was scored by the Predators but they couldn’t hunt down the Kraken who ran out 4-3 winners.
Three more games against Columbus Blue Jackets, Philadelphia Flyers and New Jersey Devils are to be played before that long-awaited home debut.
