ALBUQUERQUE – Hello Ice Wolves fans and welcome to the latest edition of the Ice Wolves Den. This week we feature Edward Gregorin.
Recently, Gregorin signed a tender to play in the NAHL with the Colorado Grit and got to play a couple of games with them recently, “It was fun to go play with Colorado, they have some good guys up there and they’re fighting for a playoff spot. I wish them the best of luck, but I’m happy to be back here with the guys at the Outpost.” Gregorin said, “I’m not leaving these guys until the end of the year, but it will be different next year. The Outpost has been my home for two years. It’ll be difficult, but I’m excited for the new opportunity.”
Gregorin credits his Grandfather as his biggest influence and appreciates his current coach, “My Grandpa was my hero, I definitely looked up to him the most.” Gregorin continued, “It’s been great playing under Coach Banks, he definitely cares a lot about us. We’re getting better and he’s getting better. It’s a great culture to come play here every day.”
A common thread among all of the players is their appreciation of the fans, Gregorin was no different. “Our fans are awesome, they show up and they show out. It’s definitely nice to play in front of a crowded arena.” Gregorin said, “Seeing these kids reminds me of myself as a kid. I was definitely giving the (Anchorage) Seawolves taps when they were going out on the ice when I was younger. It’s great to see them enjoying the sport and getting excited to see us play. They might not take the losses quite as dearly as we do, but they’re still having fun and that’s what matters.”
This past weekend the NA3HL Ice Wolves took home 3 out of 6 points, defeating the Louisiana Drillers 4-3 in overtime Friday, but fell 5-4 Saturday in a shootout and 5-2 on Sunday.
The NAHL Ice Wolves had a better weekend, sweeping the Amarillo Wranglers on the road, 2-1 in overtime on Friday and 5-2 on Saturday.
The NAHL Ice Wolves are off next weekend before returning home January 31st and March 1st to take on the Odessa Jackalopes. The NA3HL Ice Wolves hit the road for the rest of the month to take on Tulsa, Atlanta and the Brahmas before returning home in mid February when they will host their annual School Day Matinee on February 13th against the Atlanta Capitals.
