The History Behind Sunday’s EIHL Challenge Cup Games

Sunday evening in the Challenge Cup brings us four games. Here’s what history tells us about each matchup:

Glasgow Clan and Belfast Giants have met 14 times at Braehead in the Cup, and it’s the visitors who hold the edge with eight wins to six. Both sides also have two overtime victories to their name.

Dundee’s record on home ice in Cup action is excellent against Fife. The Stars have 11 wins against the Flyers in Dundee, with one tie and four victories for the team from Kirkcaldy.

It’s a 5–4 record in favour of the Coventry Blaze in Cup games against the Nottingham Panthers at the Skydome, with three further games ending in a draw. Coventry haven’t won a home Cup fixture against the Panthers since 2016, although only one such game has been played there in the meantime.

Finally, today marks only the third ever Cup meeting between Guildford and Sheffield at the Spectrum, with each team having one win apiece.
