The historical numbers behind Saturday night’s full EIHL schedule

Twenty five Elite League games have been played on 13 December, with the first taking place during the inaugural 2003 season. This is the first time that five fixtures have been scheduled on this date.

Manchester hosted Nottingham on this exact date last year, when the Panthers won 4-3 in overtime. The only shutouts recorded on this day came in 2006 and 2008, both by Newcastle. Only two games have ever gone to overtime on 13 December, and there have been two shootouts. Home and road teams are level historically with twelve wins each, while one tie occurred when the date was used for a Challenge Cup Quarter Final.

Dundee’s win over Cardiff earlier this season took their all time total to thirteen home league victories against the Devils, who have twenty four league wins on Tayside.

Coventry’s victory in Kirkcaldy earlier this year moved their all time league record in Fife to eighteen wins, while the Flyers have taken sixteen. Fife have not beaten Coventry at home since March 2024.

Manchester narrowly edge the all time league record at the Storm Shelter against Nottingham with thirteen wins to the Panthers’ eleven. Storm have not beaten Nottingham at home in league play since January 2024.

Glasgow have already won in Sheffield this season, taking their all time total in league play at the Utilita Arena to one. The Steelers have recorded twenty three victories over that period.
